What is
Good Trouble?

We’re a bit different from other consultants and strategic advisers. We are interested in helping you deliver the big stuff, not writing you a 90 page report on things you already know.

We are outcomes focused and action oriented. We look for new, novel and innovative approaches to the challenges you already understand.

And we’re going to provoke and challenge – positively! – to help your leadership team shift their thinking and their approach.

We provide strategic advice, reports, workshops and other products by working with you to identify what you need (it might be different than you think).

We are also happy to say out loud the things you might be thinking. We can help (politely, usually) push boundaries when needed and challenge what might be outdated or old views to help see your future clearly.

Why Good
Trouble?

Good Trouble is about being disruptive to create fair, progressive outcomes – it reflects that you can expect something different from us: a crystal clear vision of a better outcome, and a willingness to take unconventional paths to get there.

You get actionable outcomes, pitched to the right audience.

Meet the Team

We’re Alison Lloydd-Wright and Kayla Johnson. Between us we have decades of experience in opportunity creation and problem solving to help South Australia thrive.

We bring significant senior government experience from the Department of the Premier and Cabinet including as Deputy Chief Executive, Community Culture and Place, and Director, Population Strategy, where we have worked on problems and opportunities at a global, national and local scale. We have lifetimes of knowledge of growing up here and the new views of a person who moved with no experience (but became wildly passionate) about South Australia. We bring critical thinking of law and economics and policy and politics degrees coupled with the cold hard experience you need to see what’s important. Annoyingly in love with all the parts of our state we bring connections into all the industries and all the events, we seriously love it all.

Kayla Johnson

Place of origin:
Wisconsin, U.S.A

Where you can find her in her free time:
Attending or volunteering at a festival

Go to meal out:
Eating literally anything and everything at La Popular Taqueria in Port Adelaide

One thing she wants you to know:
Instead of asking people where they went to school to find common ground we could instead ask, what has you most excited right now? Or what is something you’ve done recently you want other people to check out? So we don’t make migrants to our great state feel excluded.

Alison Lloydd-Wright

Place of origin:
Adelaide, SA

Where you can find her in her free time:
In a sunbeam with a glass of crisp SA white

Go to meal out:
Cheese in all its forms, especially the saganaki at Greek on Halifax and the burrata with nahm Jim and roti at Kiin.

One thing she wants you to know:
Despite what people say, there’s always heaps going on in SA (outside of Mad March)

Strategy – Design to delivery, done differently

We are big picture thinkers, problem solvers and opportunity generators. We want to help you sort the essential from the nice to have. We will research, consult and provide strategic advice to identify the things that will really turn the dial. And we will deliver back to you clear, to the point, next steps.

We will work with you, your Board or leadership team to guide you through critical choices that your organisation faces, helping you hone in on the ones that get you to where you want to be (not where you are now), that are authentic to your organisational values and are practical and pragmatic to implement. We won’t hand you a vision with no roadmap to get there.

We shape leaders, teams, and businesses for the opportunities and challenges of the future, with a strong grounding in values.

We’ve created diverse, creative, and strong teams (small and large), and have a contemporary approach to what leadership and workplace culture looks like for new generations and a new future of work.

We work with teams, organisations or individuals on

  • planning and strategy days
  • team building
  • creating a productive and psychologically safe workplace
  • prioritisation and work processes

We’d be happy to design something bespoke for your team, business, or leadership challenge.

We have experience in bringing together the widest and wiliest of stakeholders, managing dissent, creating open communication, holding boundaries, and clearly communicating to achieve outcomes, across industries, government departments, counter interests, age ranges, and more.

We run events and consultations that are energetic, engaging and focus on giving as much to participants as you want to get from them. Yes, they’ll feel a bit unusual and different to what you’re used to. But they’ll feel alive and build genuine, lasting goodwill with people you want to consult.

Our experience is that stakeholder engagement is about building trust, sharing information, and genuinely listening to the lived experiences of your stakeholders and taking their feedback into usable themes.

Our training and professional development services are designed to empower individuals, teams, and organisations at every stage—from early career development how to’s all the way through to leading teams of 100+.

We offer hands-on support that provides practical advice, actionable strategies, tips and tricks that can be applied right away. From how to handle when you’ve f*cked up to what’s different about being an executive, we want to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge, what people think and expect to experience, and practical application, the real-life intricacies of a workplace. We won’t tell you what type of bird you are. (We’re eagles.)

Whether you’re looking to boost your personal growth or elevate your team’s performance, we’ll work closely with you to unlock your full potential.

We are polite, professional and excellent readers of the room and its personalities. We steer productive conversations, we ask thought provoking questions, and we hold boundaries. As facilitators or emcees we keep the room engaged, energised, and involved.

Bright, charming and cheekily provocative, we help your event cut through the thousands of others attendees have been to, to create something memorable and plain enjoyable.

There’s a global, national and local war for talent and we want to help you win it.

It’s the tightest labour market in decades and talent have more choices than ever about where they work. We want to help you understand those choices and how to orient your organisation to be attractive.

Staff retention is more critical than ever.  The cost of losing great employees isn’t just financial—it disrupts teams, drains knowledge, and slows momentum. Organisations that retain their best staff won’t just be more stable – they’ll build a thriving, engaged workforce that drives long-term success, attracting new employees who want to join the great culture they’ve made.
